“THE ART OF MUSIC:
SHERYL CROW WITH JASON ISBELL”
FILMED AT THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART DEBUTS ON PUBLIC TELEVISION THIS JULY
Presented by United MileagePlus® Cards from Chase,
Episode Includes Conversation and Performances from the GRAMMY-Winners
NEW YORK, NY – Nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum selling singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow is the first artist featured in the new Public Television series The Art of Music premiering this month. Presented by United MileagePlus® Cards from Chase and filmed in front of a live audience earlier this year at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Crow is interviewed by her friend and fellow GRAMMY Award-winning artist Jason Isbell.
As part of this unique series, Isbell led a conversation with Crow about her musical journey, sharing insights into their creative processes. The discussion intertwined some of Crow’s iconic songs which the duo performed together, delivering a singular musical experience.
The Art of Music was created to give viewers a rare look inside the artists’ lives and their creative practice. In this debut episode, Crow shares stories about her songs and significant moments in her career. Fans will also see performances of fan favorite tracks accompanied by Isbell including “Everyday Is A Winding Road,” “Redemption Day,” “My Favorite Mistake,” “Strong
Enough” and “If It Makes You Happy” as well as “Evolution” the title track of her recent 11th studio album, Evolution.
“Art is what sustains us through all of our history. It is what documents who we are at any given moment,” shares Crow. “For me, art is the great hope.”
“The Met’s musical instrument collection celebrates music from across time and across culture, and we like to think of instruments as art used to create art,” said Jayson Dobney, the Frederick P. Rose Curator in Charge of the Department of Musical Instruments at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. “Among its treasures is the world’s oldest piano from Florence, crafted in 1720, alongside exquisite violins by Antonio Stradivari and the Amati family. We also house magnificent drums from Africa and ancient Chinese instruments, as well as a significant collection of iconic American guitars. It was a thrill to welcome Sheryl Crow and Jason Isbell, both extraordinary musicians, to view the collection before the performance.”
The debut episode of The Art of Music will air on public television stations nationwide beginning this month on stations representing close to 90% USTVHH, with airdates through the fall (check local listings). Fans may also watch on The Art of Music website or stream on the PBS app. Additional summer broadcasts include airings in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, August 2 at 10 pm local time. The national public television World Channel will air the episode on Saturday, August 17 at 7pm ET; Monday, August 19 at 4am ET; and Wednesday, August 21 at 5am ET and 11am ET (adjust according to local time zone).
